October payroll employment increases (+204,000); unemployment rate changes little (7.3%)

Total nonfarm payroll employment rose by 204,000 in October, and the unemployment rate was little changed at 7.3 percent. Employment increased in leisure and hospitality, retail trade, professional and technical services, manufacturing, and health care.

Employer-reported injury and illness rate declined to 3.4 cases per 100 workers in 2012

Private industry employers reported nearly 3.0 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses in 2012, lowering the incidence rate to 3.4 cases per 100 equivalent full-time workers compared to 3.5 cases in 2011.
