Traffic Matters
Short answer: you can hire us for a Memphis or Shelby County traffic ticket without coming to our office. Text a photo of the front of your ticket to 901-412-2973. Patrick Brooks reads every text himself and replies with the court, your court date and our flat fee, $200 for a regular ticket at 201 Poplar. When you are ready to hire us, text a photo of the front of your driver’s license and your email address, sign our agreement on your phone, and pay by card, or in cash at our office at a time you arrange with us. In most cases you never have to go to court.
Text the ticket to 901-412-2973 or call (901) 324-5000. A photo of the front of the ticket is all we need to tell you where you stand. Se habla español.
How it works, step by step
- Text a photo of the front of the ticket to 901-412-2973, with your name. That is enough for a quote, and you do not have to send anything else yet. If you would rather use email, send it to patrick@patrickbrookslaw.com.
- We reply with what you are facing: which court the ticket is in, the court date, the flat fee, and whether it is honestly worth hiring a lawyer for this one. Some tickets are not, and we will say so.
- When you are ready to hire us, send a photo of the front of your driver’s license and your email address. We need the license to appear for you and the email to send the agreement and the payment request.
- Sign on your phone. Our agreement arrives by email through DocuSign. It takes a minute and you never print anything.
- Pay by card, or in cash. PayPal emails you a secure payment request; you can pay with a debit or credit card, and you do not need a PayPal account. If you would rather pay cash, text us to set a time to drop it off at our office, 2299 Union Avenue, and please arrange the time first so we are there to meet you.
- We confirm, and take it from there. Once your agreement is signed and your payment is in, Patrick texts you to confirm that your court date is on his calendar and that he will appear on your behalf. We let the court know we represent you and handle the court date. After court, Patrick texts or calls you with the result and a photo of the clerk’s receipt showing how the ticket was resolved, and tells you exactly what, if anything, you still owe.
Start the way that suits you
- Just want a price? Send only the photo of the ticket. You get the court, the date and the fee, with no obligation and nothing else to send.
- Busy schedule? You do not have to come in or set up a meeting. Everything can be handled by text and email from start to finish, and if you would rather keep it that way, just say so.
- Want to talk to Patrick first? Call (901) 324-5000, or text CALL and a good time to 901-412-2973 and he will call you. Patrick is glad to talk at any point along the way, and asking questions before you decide costs nothing.
Your privacy
- Only Patrick reads your texts. 901-412-2973 is the attorney’s own line, not a call center or an answering service, and the same goes for his email.
- What you send is confidential, even if you decide not to hire us. A lawyer in Tennessee has to keep a prospective client’s information confidential, and we do.
- You decide when to send your license. Nothing beyond the ticket is needed until you are ready to hire us.
- No Social Security number, no card numbers. We never ask for either by text or email. Card payments happen only through PayPal’s own secure page; cash is paid in person at our office.
- You choose how we reach you. If you want text and email only, tell us, and that is all you will get.
What it costs
| Who wrote the ticket | Court | Our flat fee |
|---|---|---|
| Memphis Police Department | Memphis City Court, Division 1, 2 or 3, 201 Poplar | $200 per regular ticket |
| Shelby County Sheriff’s Office or Tennessee Highway Patrol | General Sessions Division 14, 201 Poplar | $200 per regular ticket |
A ticket from Germantown, Bartlett or Collierville police goes to that city’s court, and a ticket on a commercial driver’s license is handled differently. Text those too; we will tell you the court and the fee.
The fee is quoted in full before you decide anything, and it does not change once you hire us. More on how the fee works is on what a traffic ticket lawyer costs in Memphis.
Before you pay the ticket yourself
Paying a moving violation online counts as a conviction, and the points go on your driving record the same as if a judge had found you guilty. Text us the ticket first. If paying it really is your best option, we will tell you that too. For how Memphis tickets are handled in court, see our Memphis traffic ticket guide and our page on speeding tickets.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to come to your office?
No. A regular traffic ticket can be handled entirely by text and email: you send the ticket, then your license and your email when you are ready, sign the agreement on your phone and pay by card (or drop off cash at our office at a time you arrange), and Patrick confirms that your court date is on his calendar and that he will appear for you. Patrick is always glad to talk if you would like to; call (901) 324-5000 or text CALL and a good time.
Who reads my texts?
Patrick Brooks, and no one else. 901-412-2973 is the attorney’s own line. What you send is confidential even if you decide not to hire us.
When do I send my driver’s license?
Only when you are ready to hire us. A photo of the front of the ticket is enough for a quote. Once you decide, text or email a photo of the front of your license with your email address, and we send the agreement.
How do I pay?
After you sign, PayPal emails you a secure payment request, and you pay by debit or credit card. You do not need a PayPal account. You can also pay cash at our office, 2299 Union Avenue; text us first to set a time to drop it off. We never ask for a card number by text or email. Court costs are separate and are paid to the court clerk.
Will I have to go to court?
In most cases, no. We appear for you on regular tickets at 201 Poplar, and afterward you get the result and a photo of the clerk’s receipt. If your ticket is one where the court needs you there, we tell you before you hire us.
Can I email instead of texting?
Yes. Send the photo of the front of the ticket to patrick@patrickbrookslaw.com and we will reply the same way. Most people find texting quickest, but either works.
What if my ticket is not from Memphis?
Text it anyway. A ticket goes to the court of the agency that wrote it, so a Germantown, Bartlett or Collierville ticket goes to that city’s court. We will tell you the court and the fee, or tell you honestly if it is one we do not handle.
Can I text in Spanish?
Yes. Se habla español. Envíe una foto de su multa al 901-412-2973.
